Three Dozen in the Oven … But I’m Not Done Yet (Just Slightly Toasty)

Since we're on the topic of food, here's what I helped create tonight at Publix. Holy Sweet Tooth Coma, Batman!

Wouldn’t you know I’d cook up a culinary analogy, just a few short hours after my Publix Apron’s cooking class, to recap my birthday? Those sugary desserts we whipped up tonight are still stirring within, and the ensuing sugar buzz has my keyboard threatening assault charges. The fingers are alive tonight. They feel like flying.

It’s great to be blogging again. It’s great to be alive. It’s great to be 36.

Yes, that kooky 36 fairy visited me Tuesday and sprinkled her magic dust on me. After 36 years, don’t all of us have a little dust on us naturally?

So many people joined the virtual pile-on, via Facebook, to remind me of my advancing age. So many co-workers ensured my tumbler never ran dry at our Stonewood happy hour, and then later at Suite. And, as a subset of the previous group, so many evil practical jokers will soon learn never to mess with my office computer again. You know who you are.

Oh, and let’s not forget so many loving family members who reached out to say hello and even serenade me by phone.

For those of you who helped make my birthday a special memory, thank you. I’ve typed it before and I’ll type it again — this year will be a time of great change in my life. It already has been that in so many ways. The most comforting thought I have while I’m being buffeted in this 36-mph gale-force wind is that my God, my family and my friends are rock-solid and will lift me up and help me make it through to what’s next. I have faith in what’s next, and the idea that the best is yet to come. I know what’s waiting for me, but I just need to plot my route to get there.

All of that to say, I’m not done yet. Not done growing, blogging, or, unfortunately, aging. Thank you for reading, and stay tuned for more news about the journey ahead. I hope you will share my enthusiasm!
